Our Story:

Several dogs have inspired the idea behind Shake A Paw Greetings, but none more than a Boston Terrier named Norman. His goofy joy was contagious and his big personality left a lasting impression. Now, even years after his passing, friends and acquaintances still stop to share their favourite stories with a grin and sometimes, side-splitting laughter.

Gertrude Stein said “I am I because my little dog knows me.” Dogs touch our lives in a very special way. We would go as far as to say that anyone who is reading this has had a moment in their life when they felt that the only being in the world that understood them was their dog. ‘Dog people’ recognize the impact that dogs have made in their lives and the lives of others.

Shake A Paw Greetings has one simple mission: to recognize and celebrate the bond that exists between humans and dogs. When you send one of our greetings, you acknowledge that your doggie friend is a member of the family and that makes everyone on two and four legs smile.

A Helping Paw:

Since our first days on Facebook and Twitter, we have been inspired by the folks we’ve met online, an incredible community of individuals and organizations committed to helping animals. It is exciting to connect, spread the word about fundraising events all over North America and educate ourselves by sharing information. We believe that your tireless efforts are making a difference; more and more people are rescuing, fostering and adopting at-risk animals. As a direct result of your influence we have decided that $1 for every greeting sold will be donated to rescue operations and shelters. Knowing where these ingredients originate is equally important. As our company grows, our goals are to expand our relationships with local farmers, use more organic ingredients and reduce our impact on the environment by sourcing supplies as close to home as possible. We have designed our packaging to be light as well as entirely recyclable. Living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, arguably one of the most beautiful parts of the world, our lifestyle has always been ‘green’.  We compost, recycle and constantly strive to be more water and energy efficient. A healthy planet equals healthy lives and healthy dogs!
